The grand international sport event counts more than 400 participants. Aimed at both lovers of the sport and professionals, the event will take place between Pula, Domus de Maria and Teulada on 26th and 27th October. The combination of this unique natural haven and the experience of the Forte Village management will prove to be an unrivalled mix in the international triathlon calendar. The event has involved local authorities and top sponsors like Regione Sardegna and Metaenergia. The total prize value is over 30,000 euros.
The event will be divided into the following:
1) Sprint race, with a 750 metre swim, 20 km bike race and a 5 km run; and 2) Middle Distancerace, 1900 m, 90 and 21.097 km. There will also be a children’s event:the Kids Triathlon with a 200 metre swim, 6 km bike race and a 1,500 metre run.
In addition to the rich number of elite athletes, the renowned “Circolo Aniene” who will be participating with four teams, with athletes such as Nicola Cassio – a freestyle athlete who took part in the European Championships, World Cup and Beijing Olympics – and Andrea Palantrani –an extraordinary paralympic swimmer and rower.
Joining one of the Circolo Aniene’s teams for the bike leg is the ‘carabiniere’ (a member of the Italian national police force) Alessandro Fabian, a friend of the Club. Straight from the UK: Greg Searle is an Olympic gold medalist, winning the coxed pairs event at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics with his brother Jonny.
