Women and children: travelling with your little ones

Family & children

Do the words ‘travelling’ and ‘small children’ sound like an unbelievable combination?

Well, maybe it’s time to start believing again. My family’s quite ‘big’ by today’s standards: there’s three siblings, two of whom are twins. But we’ve always travelled and we’ve visited nearly every European capital from a very early age. In fact, I think my brothers went on their first flight when they were only 15 months old.

This goes to show that travelling with children isn’t necessarily an impossible feat. All you need to do is make the right to preparations.

Let’s start from the beginning: the suitcase! What are the most important things you will need when travelling with children? Don’t forget to take a first aid kit with some basic medicines (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory cream, a thermometer, etc.). I also remember that huge bag my mum always prepared, which contained everything she needed for feeding little ones: milk, baby food, a small camping stove…

But the real problem are things like pushchairs, cots, travel seats and so on and so forth. Not to mention getting everything on board a plane. In this case, it might be a good idea to hire some baby equipment at your destination.

Forte Village Resort takes the stress out of a travelling with children, because you can hire baby buggies and buy nappies and other babycare items directly from our special children’s area.

But how do you cope with a new-born baby on a plane? It’s the nightmare of every parent (and the other passengers)! Make sure you have some toys to keep them entertained, as well as milk and fluids that they can drink during landing and take-off. If they cry, there’s not a lot you can do about it, crying is normal for a small baby.

And in the car? Here also, toys and music are the perfect solution! In this case, it’s a good idea to plan the journey around your child’s natural rhythms and habits and make frequent stops.

But which destinations should you choose? For a more comfortable, stress-free holiday, go for a family-friendly structure, which specifically caters for the needs of little guests. The best solution are tourist villages and resorts, which allow you to enjoy the beach, but also guarantee that your children will never get bored.

Which Forte Village structure is best for children? One of the objectives of our resort is to unite parents’ relaxation with fun activities for kids, making it the perfect holiday destination for families. For this reason, we’ve created a ‘world’ specifically for children.

The name of this enchanted world is ‘Wonderland’, a magical oasis, at just a short walk from the beach, where children will never get bored. There’s a theme park with miniature themed houses (including a police and fire station, a supermarket and cinema), where little ones can discover the world of grownups and play different role games every day.

There’s also a fully equipped nursery for smaller babies, an area for little boys where they can enjoy the thrills of high-speed racing in our Hotwheel cars (all in maximum safety, of course), and what more could a little girl ask for than an amazing Barbie Activity Centre?

What are you waiting for? All you need to do is pack your suitcase and leave! You won’t regret it, and your children will come home with some fantastic memories!
